Unit Chalet 2012

Our annual Unit Chalet is something which never fails to excite everyone in the Unit. We started off by meeting up at Pasir Ris MRT station and went for lunch at the nearby White Sands Shopping Centre. We then went to the arcade and had a whale of a time playing games with my squadmates. Some of us even managed to break some records at the arcade! Soon, we returned to the MRT station and departed to our long awaited chalet, Aloha Loyang.

After placing our bags in our respective chalet units, it was time for our squad activity! The Secondary 3 and 4 Squads went to Orchid Bowl at E-Hub to enjoy a few games of bowling. We had a great time there playing with both our squadmates and seniors. Some amazed us with their proficient bowling skills, while others entertained us as they repeatedly threw the ball into the gutter.

Upon finishing our games, we went back to the chalet to where a delicious BBQ-style buffet awaits. Even before arriving at the chalet unit, the aroma of food greeted us and we could not wait for the food to be ready. While waiting, a few of us tried to push our squadmates into the pool to start off our games in the pool. The food was then ready and the lengthy queues formed at the tables. The food was scrumptious, and we enjoyed the variety of fried rice, fish, sambal squid, curry chicken, beef patties and marshmallows with chocolate fondue, to name a few. We sat together and chatted as we ate our food, which somehow made dinner even more enjoyable.

After dinner we split up to do our own things as the night was still young. I played card games with my squadmates, while the others went swimming or played mahjong with the seniors. Later in the night, some of us also went for night cycling till the morning. Most of us intended to stay awake through the night and enjoy as much as we could, however, all of us were exhausted and fell asleep in the end.

The next day, we already had to pack up and leave the chalet. Before we left Aloha Loyang, we enjoyed the breeze near the sea and cycled one last time. Finally, the chalet came to a close. We left with memories we will never forget and smiles on our faces although we did not bear to leave so soon. It should be undisputed that all of us had a lot of fun at this year’s Unit Chalet and we will definitely be looking forward to the next Unit Chalet.
